Whew! What a weekend!

The weekend started with dinner on Friday with Sean and Lauren.  It was the first time we had seen them since they got married in mid-July. We had dinner at Red Lobster and it was delicious! I’m not usually a huge fan of this restaurant but I seemed to be in the mood for it on Friday!

After dinner I took Greg on a mini-shopping marathon, poor guy! Our first stop was Old Navy because I had a 20% off coupon and a $20 bucks-back coupon from the ON credit card. I found a couple tops so that was fun…but then they wouldn’t let me use both coupons so that was a bummer. But I can use the $20 bucks back for the baby :o )

After Old Navy, we went to Kohl’s mainly to look for some home decor things…I’ve been bitten with a decorating bug lately (more on that later). I ended up not really finding anything for the casa but managed to find three pairs of shoes for me and a new pair of sandals for Greg! Score!

Just as we were about to finish checking out it started pouring. And I mean buckets! Greg was nice enough to bring the car around so I didn’t have to run to far in the rain. The next stop was walmart to pick up some miscellaneous items….of which I can’t even remember now.  And of course it was still raining. We finally got home and crashed hard for the night….

…but it wasn’t long before the alarm was going off and we were back at it again .  We spent the morning running around to various home furnishing stores looking for some accent chairs but that was to no avail. When we got back that afternoon I was able to convince Greg to help me rearrange living room furniture. It has been bugging me for weeks but we finally were going to get it done!

The first feat we had to tackle was moving the stupid television. My super fabulous brother bought us a 42 inch tv as a wedding present….and don’t get me wrong we absolutely love it! However….this thing is massive. And having tried lifting it before, I would equate it to trying to lift a hippo. A very compact….dense…hippo. And seeing as how I cannot be lifting heavy things this would not be an option for us.

So…the next best thing (because once I get an idea in my head its going to happen…and in this case it meant the furniture was getting moved) was to move the TV to our coffee table. Now our coffee table isn’t anything particularly splendid but it was fairly attractive and served its purpose. However, it probably isn’t the most sturdy of tables. Can you see where this is going?

So, in my infinite wisdom (and most impatient nature) I came up with the grand idea of sliding the TV from the entertainment unit to the table. Success! We were able to get the whole bloody TV on the table which gave us enough time to move the entertainment unit and get that in place to move the tv. About 11.0439 seconds before we were about to move the TV back to the entertainment stand we heard a cracking sound.

No sooner did we turn around, did our beautiful (albeit heavy) went crashing through the table. I couldn’t even think. Naturally, my first reaction was “Fan-freaking-tastic….we lost the television”. But luckily Greg was able to turn it on. Still, it did not survive without injury. Our beautiful television now has a pretty significant crack on the front panel (no damage to the actual screen thank Heavens)!

Now that I had surveyed the damage, I burst into tears. Admitingly, I am an emotional person in general….but I think in combination with hormones, stress, and fatigue it just all came to head with the fiasco. Poor Greg, he never knows what to do with me when I have a meltdown. I feel so bad for him because I know he just wants to fix things and help me stop crying but sometimes a girl just needs to cry.

Eventually, I regained composure and the impending gathering of friends that was upon us, sent me into a cleaning frenzy! We were able to get everything cleaned up and dinner cooked by the time the boys arrived. Thankfully, they helped Greg get the TV back up on the unit. Yay! Jon, Manny, Joseph, and Wilcox (James) all arrived together bearing gifts of ice and ice cream (and Parrot Bay coconut rum for Manny and Sarah)!

It was great getting to catch up with everyone, to see what everyone did over the summer and what not. Joseph made sure to talk to the baby (by way of my belly) on several occassions, so the baby would feel included of course! Sarah arrived about an hour later and we all had the yummy lasagna! After dinner we watched a bit of the Olympics (before everyone got tired of watching the women’s marathon)! We played a few rounds of Rock Band and American Idol (oh yeah, no lie) and then everyone took off for the night.

Sunday we went to St. Matthews for the 9:15 am mass. It really is awful how bad my baby ADD and radar are. I try so hard not to pay attention but for some reason I always seem to find all the babies in the congregation and I can’t help but watch them! After mass we stopped at McD’s for breakfast (yay for yorgurt parfaits!) and then met up with mom for some shopping. We also made a trip to Floresville to pick up a crib that my parent’s got last summer and was being store at Greg’s parents’ house (long story, don’t ask).

When we finally got home that night we curled up on the couch and watched the notebook and nearly fell asleep on the couch. Tomorrow I have to take Greg to work because his going to a conference in Austin and is taking the company vehicle. It’s going to be really strange (and a little sad) not having him here with me, but hopefully Wednesday will come fast!
