Tech finished their OOC schedule last weekend with a win over UMASS. For the first time since 2005, the raiders are 4-0 entering conference play. The opened the season at home with a 49-24 win over Eastern Washington and then beat the Nevada Wolfpack on the road 35-19.
After heavy rains flooded the city of lubbock and turned Jones Stadium into the Texas Tech Aquatic Center, there was a concern that the game might be cancelled. However, they were able to pump the field and Texas Tech sealed a victory of June Jone’s Mustangs 43-17.
This weekend will be the first of two bye-weekends and hopefully the Raiders will get utilize the time off to get some rest and extra practice before heading to two back to back games in Kansas….the first being against Kansas State. I’m confident that the Raiders can leave Kansas 2-0 by the end of that series but they will have to bring their “A-game” to do it.
Mike Leach continues to be in rare form, getting coverage on ESPN for everything from dating advice to his longtime favorite topic of pirates. Here’s where we start getting serious…where we’re able to see if the Texas Tech Red Raiders can live up to their pre-season hype by finishing 12-0, clinching the Big 12 South, and maybe even taking a Big 12 Championship and head to a BCS bowl.
If there was ever a season they could do it….this would be it! Go Tech, Wreck “Em!
